Shailee Basnet in Comedy

Shailee started as a stand-up comic in the year 2011 in Nepal. After successful debut in the Nepali special titled ‘Thadai That’, Shailee has been performing in Nepal and the US.

In 2017, Shailee had her big break at Gotham Comedy Club in New York, voted as one of the top ten comedy clubs in the USA. Her show ‘Top Shot Comedy with Shailee Basnet’ was a runaway hit. Shailee has since returned to Gotham Comedy Club with more shows.

As a climber working for empowerment of young women, Shailee works with heavy-duty subject in a daily basis. Her vision is to bring the powerful developing world perspective and female narrative to the global mainstream entertainment through the language of comedy.

Her journey as a climber turned comedian has been covered by The ESPN, New York Daily news among others.

During the pandemic she started her online special ‘Mt Everest Diaries’, which has been a favorite among her followers. The special landed at the iconic Sydney Goldstein Theatre in San Francisco, City Arts & Lecture on 8th October 2022. Stay tuned for 2025 dates!
